We were delighted to join Hythe Group at the GET INSPIRED event in Portsmouth this week, along with Lincoln Electric
GET INSPIRED is designed to showcase all the great career opportunities within our industry, allowing young people to understand the broad range of career paths and diverse businesses in the local area, unveiling opportunities which they may not have realised are available to them. Hythe Group exhibited to encourage young people to explore welding apprenticeships and careers in engineering, with Lincoln Electric there to demonstrate their virtual reality (VR) welding system. Always a popular addition to events such as these, the VR system provides a realistic, responsive and highly engaging welding experience, which is fun, interactive, and brings the tools, settings, materials, visuals and sounds of the welding process to life - Perfect for young people to have a go at welding techniques in a safe, virtual environment, even if they’ve never tried welding before!
Hythe Group provides bespoke engineering, design and maintenance services to Marine, Building and Fabrication industries. Combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting edge engineering, Hythe Group believe that ‘in order to invest in the talent of tomorrow, we must pass on the skills of our past’. This ethos is why welding apprentices make up 10% of the Hythe Group workforce, with mentors passing on their knowledge, and options galore to expand training experience into other areas such as domestic and commercial plumbing. Investing in the future, creating a depth of understanding and a solid foundation of skillsets linked to the trade creates a versatile and adaptable workforce.
